Does this outfit make me look fat? Unlike this loaded question (btw the answer is always NO) there is data to answer that old age question since the straw house was upgraded to brick so the big bad wolf can’t blow your house down.

So sit back and relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere), and I will dazzle you with my incredible insight, personality, and realtor knowledge that will leave you wanting to follow this blog.

The joy of home ownership also gives you the option to update and/or upgrade your home. And if you choose wisely you can add some real bang for your buck (see what I did there) that will add value when it comes to selling your home. The key is selecting the right remodeling project for your home based on your neighborhood.

There is such a thing as over remodeling, just like there is such a thing as too much plastic surgery. Before committing to a major remodel consult your favorite real estate agent and trusted advisor . . . me!! You need to consider if your kitchen needs a full remodel or just an update. In some cases, a minor kitchen facelift will yield more than a major kitchen remodel. If you don’t believe me check out this chart from www.thisoldhouse.com

In general, kitchens and bathrooms are a safe bet. So go ahead and start picking out the new color for your bathroom to replace the dated seafoam green or salmon paint.

And while you are at it don’t forget about curb appeal. I know we always say “it’s what is on the inside that counts,” but that only applies to refrigerators!! When you pull up to your home after a tiring day at work you want to feel a sense of comfort and security. It can be as simple as updating your front door or as big as replacing your siding, windows or roof. Not only do they help to make your home more energy efficient, but they also yield high returns when it comes to selling your house one day.

I always advise my clients to update their homes while they are still living there so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor before turning around and selling it. That pride of home ownership is a great feeling that should be enjoyed before the next family moves in.
